US sues school over denial of Muslim pilgrimage

WASHINGTON (AP) - The federal government sued a suburban Chicago school district Monday for denying a Muslim middle school teacher unpaid leave to make a pilgrimage to Mecca that is a central part of her religion.

In a civil rights case, the department said the school district in Berkeley, Ill., denied the request of Safoorah Khan on grounds that her requested leave was unrelated to her professional duties and was not set forth in the contract between the school district and the teachers union. In doing so the school district violated the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by failing to reasonably accommodate her religious practices, the government said.

Somehow I can't see the same "courtesy" being extended to a Christian. The Obama Regime is the most racist, corrupt administration in the history of this Country.

KHARTOUM, Sudan (AP) — Sudan’s judiciary opened an investigation into a video of a woman being flogged that has been widely circulated on the Internet, the state news agency reported Sunday.

The video shows a woman in a voluminous cloak on her knees screaming and pleading with blue-uniformed policemen, identified as Sudanese, who take turns whipping her across the head and feet.

Is this what this muslim woman has to look forward to on her pilgrimage?

"In November 2008, Khan filed a complaint with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, which found reasonable cause that discrimination had occurred and forwarded the matter to the Justice Department." -KLTV link

This suit is filed by the justice department, all part of the process started in November 2008. One would think that if the Obama administration had a hand on this, it would have happened before now.

Maybe the delay was part of all the coverups used by Obama to hide his secret Muslim faith. First, he had a Christian wedding. Then he baptized his daughters, and sent them to Christian schools. Then he drank alcohol and ate pork. And he still hasn't gone to the Mecca.

So he is a back sliding muslim ....

He is not racist? He is not corrupt? These same courtesy would have been extended to a white Christian?

A muslim only has to go to mecca once in a lifetime. Any time. Is it a coincident this woman chose to go just after school began and not the summer and then sued when she was denied, which I am sure she knew was going to happen.

she's welcome to follow the same workplace rules that Christians, Jews, Pagans, Agnostics, and Atheists follow. had she really felt the need to undertake her pilgrimage to Mecca in the fall, she was perfectly welcome to take a sabbatical from her teaching position. work...is just that WORK. it isn't play. if you don't attend, you don't get paid and risk losing your job.
