Spanish researchers want to tag embryos...with Bar Codes...

it outlines a plan by Spanish scientists to barcode embryos used for in vitro fertilization to prevent mix ups during procedures that result in the wrong embryos being placed with the wrong family.
my question is...
why not streamline accountability procedures to prevent those kind of mistakes rather than facilitate ushering in the phenomenon of labeling genetic material with barcodes?
you know what they say about the road to hell being paved with good intentions...well, this is an excellent example.
